![]() Stockfish is bundled with the Internet Chess Club interface programs BlitzIn and Dasher. Currently Stockfish is being developed on a public distributed testing framework. Stockfish was forked from the 2.1 version of Glaurung the latest Glaurung version 2.2 was released December 2008 but is no longer developed. The program originated from another open source program by Romstad named Glaurung. In various computer chess rankings, Stockfish 2.1.1 was second or third behind the top commercial program Houdini and the free program Critter. Stockfish implements an advanced alpha-beta search and uses bitboards. ![]() The maximum size of the transposition tables is eight gigabytes. Additionally, when in a losing position, often moves can become totally nonsensical. 11,12,13 pioneered the development of AI algorithms for chess.The Shannon number, 10 120, provides a lower bound on the total number of possible games, making chess a daunting computational challenge. From a humans perspective, this is kind of boring and this is especially true for new or inexperienced chess players. It can use up to thirty-two CPU cores in multiprocessor systems. Stockfish is obviously a very powerful Chess AI but it plays very conservatively (my understanding is all powerful chess ai ). ![]() The program uses the UCI protocol and can therefore be operated under various graphical interfaces. ![]() The current version 4 (as of August 20, 2013) is available as C++ source code, and also has precompiled versions for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux 32-bit/64-bit. XBoard with PolyGlot, Scid, Cute Chess, eboard, Arena, Sigma Chess, Shredder, Chess Partner or Fritz) in order to be used comfortably. Stockfish is not a complete chess program and requires a UCI-compatible graphical user interface (GUI) (e.g. Stockfish is an open source chess engine, developed by Tord Romstad, Joona Kiiski and Marco Costalba and licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3.
